We have been celebrating Easter. We had an egg and spoon race and then we had a letter from the Easter Bunny. He left some clues and challenges around the school. When we found the clues we had to put an ‘x’ on a map.

We have been looking at 3D shapes. We have explored their properties by finding out which ones roll. We then made ramps to find out whether the cones or the cylinders would roll the furthest.

We have been looking for signs of Springs. We took clipboards to the Jungle and we wrote down what we saw, heard, smelt and touched.

We have been on a Safari! Yesterday, we made some binoculars. Today we watched a live webcam of the Savannah in Africa and then we went on our very own Safari. We had great fun spotting the animals with our binoculars.

We were set the challenge of designing and making a safari jeep.

This week we have loved making obstacle courses. Today, we decided to time ourselves and write it on a leader board. Then we recorded it on the 10s frames.

Today we flew to China. We had to have our passport stamped before entering China. We looked at all the different sights in China and tasted some Chinese food. Then we flew home again.

We have been busy celebrating Chinese New Year. We have acted out the story using masks and the small figures. We have had a go at using chopsticks and we made lanterns. We also loved making and tasting Chinese dumplings. Outside, we decided to make a bridge and we pretended to be the animals crossing the river.

Steve from Exmoor Zoo came to talk to us about the Rainforest. He brought in some creatures that live in the Rainforest for us to look at and touch. He then helped us to create our own indoor Rainforest.

We had great fun helping Northam Town Council to plant flowers and trees for the orchard in Anchor Park.

Father Christmas came to visit us today. He told us that the reindeers are getting ready and he has enough magic powder to fly them all around the world.

Today we read the story ‘A gift of Christmas’ and we decided to go down to the woods to decorate the trees for the woodland creatures.

We have been learning about Advent and the Christingle service. We made our own Christingle and sang ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas.’

We have been reading the story ‘Stick Man’ and we decided to go to the woods to create our stick families.

Tilly spoke to us about how she celebrates Diwali. She said that people put out 108 diva lamps around their house! She showed us lots of decorations, clothes and she even taught us a dance.

We had great fun working with Ruby from West End in Schools. She taught us a Diwali dance.

We went to the church to find out more about Remembrance Day and we paid our respects at the War Memorial and the Anchor.

We had a great time at our Firework Party.

We went to the woods to toast some marshmallows around the campfire.

We have been celebrating Bonfire Night.

To finish off our learning about Autumn, we made apple crumble.

We have been learning about Autumn. This week we made pumpkin soup and bread and we visited the woods to look for signs of Autumn.

Lorna, the Dentist came to talk to us about our teeth. She explain how some food is good for our teeth but some food is bad for our teeth. She talked us through good routines and then she showed us how much sugar there is in our favourite foods.

We have been painting our self portraits using ready mixed paint and powder paint.

We have been learning about our senses this week and we decided to use them to explore Anchor Park.

 

 

 

Asda Man came to talk to us about healthy eating. We brought lots of fruit for us to try. We loved the melon and the plums.
